Greeting to all; as we gather to worship this Sunday, let us pray for committed and faithful leadership.
Since sin entered the world, it has led to a war on Christianity whereby God's people need protection from evil ones. Although Christ has full authority in the church, we trust to be spiritually protected by Godly leaders responsible for protecting the flock with the power of God's word.
Acts 20:28–30 (GNB)
28 So keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock which the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he made his own through the blood of his Son.
29 I know that fierce wolves will come among you after I leave, and they will not spare the flock.
30 The time will come when some men from your own group will tell lies to lead the believers away after them.
Lesson: We must watch over the church so that it doesn't become a cliquish community for those more concerned with friendship rather than fellowship, where false teachers desire to be idolized and upheld by those who support them.
