The Oil of Blessings

Greetings to all. On this grateful Thursday, let us remember that we need the Shepherd.

While the ancient practice of hosts pouring oil on a guest's head is no longer practiced in today's society, it remains a beautiful metaphor that reminds us of God’s abundant care and protection. Being in the care of the Shepherd and having our heads anointed in the ways they are assures the believer of God’s blessings and honor.

Psalm 23:5b–6 (KJV 1900)

5b Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Lesson:  Let us walk through every valley and live in comfort as Jesus, our Shepherd, gently cares for us as His sheep and still anoints our heads with oil. He always provides care, blessings, and unwavering love.
