The Hand of Betrayal

Season of Lent: Day 37

Today is Holy Wednesday of the Holy Week

Greetings to all. On this hump day, Wednesday, let us be watchful for hands that wish to harm us.

Every hand that reaches for help, or reaches out to help, does not have the best intentions. Betrayal is ugly, evil, and has a deceptive power that can take many forms, coming from unexpected sources. We fool ourselves into thinking that our intentions will go unnoticed. In many cases, betrayers are often exposed.

Matthew 26:23–24 (GW)

23 Jesus answered, “Someone who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.

24 The Son of Man is going to die as the Scriptures say he will. But how horrible it will be for that person who betrays the Son of Man. It would have been better for that person if he had never been born.” 

Lesson: Judas’s betrayal of Jesus is a clear example of the worst betrayal ever. We must strive not to be betrayed and, above all, not to be a betrayer.
