Example of Humble Leadership

Greetings to all. As we come to the end of this week, I hope we have all experienced humble leadership.

True leadership begins with humility. Often, we see people who focus on power instead of humility. Back in Jesus’ time, it was common to wash the dusty feet of guests, as Jesus did for his disciples.

John 13:14–17 (NCV)

14If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash each other’s feet.

15I did this as an example so that you should do as I have done for you.

16I tell you the truth, a servant is not greater than his master. A messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.

17If you know these things; you will be blessed if you do them.

Lesson:  While customs are different now and we are not asked to wash the feet of our guests, we are still called to follow Christ’s example of humility in how we lead and serve others.
