Greetings to all; as we worship this Sunday, let us serve humbly and pray for those who volunteer and serve.
High rankings embody the spirit of hard work and dedication, shining bright for all to see. At the same time, some serve with grace and humility in silence. Experiencing genuine service is a refreshing surprise in a status, rank, and prestige seeking world. These qualities are fundamental to the church's mission. Scripture warns us about those who seek titles and recognition.
Matthew 23:11–12 (GW)
11 The person who is greatest among you will be your servant.
12 Whoever honors himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be honored.
Lesson: There is value in genuine service, no matter where we serve. While we can obtain various titles in the church, the "servant of God" holds the highest rank in God's Kingdom. Christ set the ultimate example of what it means to be a servant.
