Greetings to all; as we progress through the month of March and pause to celebrate women, let us reflect on valuing ourselves while not devaluing others.
Women make great contributions to the world. In the Old Testament, men were valued more than women for their ability to work. This value was based on the sanctuary shekel, the standard unit of measurement used in the temple for the people of Israel to follow when making special vows to dedicate someone to the Lord.
Leviticus 27:3–4 (NLT)
3 Here is the scale of values to be used. A man between the ages of twenty and sixty is valued at fifty shekels of silver, as measured by the sanctuary shekel.
4 A woman of that age is valued at thirty shekels of silver.
Lesson: Some people still judge others based on their gender. We pray for and thank God for hardworking men. We pray for the women who work hard, carry weight, and take up the slack.
